What is a Sound Healing?
Music is one of the best ways to access the hidden recesses of the mind and body. Quicker than almost any other technique, music allows us to access our emotions instantly, whether it is fun, excitement, increased energy, or sadness, grief and loss.
Think about how you felt when you went through your first break-up: did you play sad love songs over and over again and cry? Think about how you feel when you need to clean the house or get ready for a big event: do you put on uplifting music to help get you going?
There's a reason for this desire to use music built deep into our brains! The scientific community has determined that music stimulates the medial prefrontal cortex area in the brain, the area where memory and emotions are stored. Using music to stimulate this area of your brain can have wonderous results from increasing a feeling of wellness, well-being and safety, to stimulating feelings of love, to helping you sleep better at night. Studies with Alzheimer patients show dramatic results; customized music selections can calm an agitated patient and reduce depression. Uplifting music has been shown in similar studies to increase the engagement of Alzheimer patients as well as increase their general overall feelings of well-being.
During this hour long sound healing session, clients will be guided through various selections of music to allow them access to their subconscious and release stored areas of grief, sadness, fear, and other emotions leading to their conscious feelings of unbalance, depression or anxiety. Together we'll find what tone your body resonates at and reset your cells to be in harmony with your body's rhythm and internal soundtrack.
This is an in-person healing. During your session, we'll chant, sing, play with percussion instruments and maybe even dance. No voice experience is necessary, only the interest in using music to help you heal. Once you book your session, I will be in touch with you to schedule your healing and guide you to the types of music that will be used during your customized healing session.
